Background Dr Olufunke Chenube is an accomplished academic with a wealth of experience and knowledge in education, guidance and counselling and early childhood education. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Education (Language Arts) in English, a Master of Education in Guidance and Counselling, another Master's in Early Childhood Care and Education, and PhD in Guidance and Counselling; she has shown a deep commitment to her field, her numerous accomplishments serve as a testament to her expertise.
Olufunke started her teaching career with the Lagos State Government before moving to
Novena University, Ogume Delta State, in 2010, then to the defunct College of Education,
Agbor, in 2011, and currently to the University of Delta, Agbor as a Senior Lecturer in the
Department of Educational Foundation where she trains pre-service teachers. The university's administration also appointed Chenube to the position of coordinating head of the psychology department last session and this current academic session. Dr Chenube has also contributed her expertise to numerous professional and administrative services. She is currently the Coordinator of the Delsu Degree Programme at UNIDEL. Previously, she was the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Delta. In the defunct College of Education, she was once the Director of the Counselling Centre and the Deputy Director of the Uniben affiliate Post Graduate Studies.
She has published many scholarly articles in national and international journals. She has also presented her works at many conferences across different countries. Her current research focuses on behavioural issues and early years education.
Dr Chenube's professional and academic contributions extend beyond her work at the University of Delta. She has served as a facilitator for the Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, providing training and re-training for caregivers, teachers, and in-service teachers on early childhood care and development education. Reggio Emilia and TARL SUBEB training. She is also the Delta State Trainer for UBEC Reggio Emilia Approach in Early Years. She has equally trained many in-service teachers in private settings.
Dr Chenube is a member of professional bodies in Nigeria and several international forums. They include the Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON), Association of Professional
Counsellors in Nigeria(APROCON), Association of Childhood Educators of Nigeria (ACEN)
Kettil Bruun Society (KBS) and Gender Alcohol and Culture: An International Study (GENACIS). Her commitment to education and community is evident in her involvement in various community service initiatives. She serves as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Kparobo Iwho Empowerment Initiative, a non-governmental, nonprofit organisation dedicated to empowering individuals in her community.
Dr Olufunke Chenube is a highly qualified and accomplished academic with broad experience and expertise. Her contributions to the field of education and her community have been significant, and her dedication to improving the lives of others is truly admirable. She is married to Pastor Samson Chenube and blessed with wonderful children.
