Abstract There is an inequality in developed and developing countries' research output in highly
reputable databases. One way to reduce this inequality is to encourage researchers in
developing countries to use online digital tools. This article examines the relationship between
lecturers' awareness and knowledge to utilising the free online digital tools (FODT) available for
literature review in the field of education. A correlation research approach involving 180
academic staff in tertiary institutions in southern Nigeria was adopted, using descriptive
statistics and correlation. A structured questionnaire elicited the participants' awareness,
knowledge, and utilisation of the free online digital tools available for literature review. The
findings indicate a low level of awareness, knowledge, and utilisation of the FODT. There was a
significant relationship between lecturers' awareness, knowledge, and utilisation of the FODT
available for literature review in education at a .05 level of significance. These results
demonstrate that awareness and knowledge of the FODT are useful prerequisites to effective
utilisation. It was recommended that stakeholders in research and education create awareness
of the availability of these FODT, carry out workshops on how to use them and replicate this
study in other developing countries

Abstract The study investigates the concerning issue of unemployment among Nigerian
graduates in recent years. Youth unemployment has come from the University's incapacity to
meet the needs of these graduates, as well as the promotion of economic, self-reliance, and selfsufficiency. In Nigeria, this has led in a rise in youth unrest. In addition, the purpose of this study
is to investigate employability, with a focus on the relationship between education and
employability, in order to evaluate whether employability can be improved through university
education. The article goes on to highlight some employability skills and propose ways for
universities to re-engineer themselves in order to obtain these capabilities for the benefit of our
students and society as a whole.

Abstract Existing literature has shown that violence against women (VAW) is still
common in Africa. Harmful traditional cultural norms have contributed to VAW. The
identification and the awareness of the negative effect of these socio-cultural norms
(SCN) will reduce VAW in Nigeria. This work looks at the socio-cultural norms (SCN) that
lead to violence against rural and sub-urban Nigerian women. A mixed research
approach involving 400 people from Ikaland of different age levels, marital status, and
educational attainment was adopted. More than 75% of the respondents agreed that
blaming the wife for her husband’s angry outburst, not prospering, and his mysterious
death are the leading promoters of VAW. Others are; that a woman is not accorded
respect if she is not married, and it is not proper for a wife to deed any landed property
in her name. Participants suggested that schools could minimise these SCN by using
the teaching-learning process, mass media, and professional academic associations to
carry out public campaigns. This investigation adds to the current body of information
on SCN that promote VAW in the various ethnic groups and provides ways the schools can contribute to combating these norms. Educational stakeholders should implement
the recommended school ways of eliminating these identified socio-cultural norms.

Abstract This study aimed to examine the impact of preschool education on the academic performance of primary school pupils in Nigeria. Six research questions were asked and answered. The study population was drawn from public primary school teachers in Delta and Edo States of Nigeria. The study sample comprised of 860 primary school teachers selected through the purposive sampling technique from public primary schools in Edo and Delta States of Nigeria during the 2019/2020 academic year. Data gathering was done using interviews and structured questionnaires. The items were structured along a four-point scoring scale of Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree and Strongly Disagree. Data were analysed using mean and standard deviation, percent and bar chart to answer the research questions. The principal results from data analysis showed that preschool education positively impacted the cognitive abilities, psychomotor abilities and social interaction abilities of pupils in many areas. There was a significant difference between the academic performance of pupils exposed to preschool (kindergarten) education and pupils not exposed to preschool education opportunities in the examined three subjects. The study concludes that preschool education positively impacted pupils' social interaction abilities, cognitive and psychomotor abilities and hence pupils exposed to it performed better in mathematics, English and General Paper than pupils not exposed to preschool education. The study contributes by establishing the usefulness and significance of preschool or kindergarten education as this could trigger Nigerian government action by establishing the law on compulsory preschool education for children.

Abstract ABSTRACT .
This paper focused on the role that good parenting can play in intellectual arousal and cognitive
development of the child and how this can help in the effective implementation and management of
the Universal Basic Education (UBE) programme in Nigeria. The population for the study were
students in the Junior Secondary School. Using the random sampling method, 10 schools were
selected from tthe three senetorial districts in Delta State. Still using the same random sampling,
200 students were selected. The instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire. So
copies of the questionnaire were distributed to the 200 students. From the data gathéred, it was
found that many of them do not receive good parenting as a result of the type of family they belong.
The families pay more attention to the material needs of the children than involving themselves in
stimulating the love for academic pursuit. As a result of this, many of the children do not have that
inner drive or zeal for academic pursuit; thereby not realising the value of school education and
personal effort. The paper conchuded that if the UBE programme, indeed the entire school system is
to succeed, parents must be alive to the responsibility of stimulating in their children the zeal for
academic matters.

Abstract This study investigated the relationship between performance appraisal, lecturers' job motivation and productivity in tertiary institutions in Delta State. The study adopted ex-post facto design. The study population comprised the 1,562 academic staff of all the state-owned tertiary institutions in Delta State. The stratified sampling method produced a sample of 781 lecturers. The questionnaire was the instrument adopted for data collection. It was validated by the experts in Educational Administration Department as well as measurement and evaluation Depariment. The instrument was also subjected to factor analysis using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to determine the construct validity. The PCA rotation sum of squared loading of all the items in the subscales accounted for acumulative variance of 59.31% for the performance appraisal subscale, 68.02% for the job mofivation subscale and 74% for the productivity subscale. The rotated component matrix of the various subscales of performance appraisal, job motivation and productivity ranged between 44 and .91, .51 and .82 and .56 and .89, respectively. The Cronbach Alpha reliability indices of .79, .75 and .78 were obtained for performance appraisal, job motivation, and productivity sub-gections. Pearson product-moment correlation matrix and multiple regression statistics were used to analyze the data. The study revealed that performance appraisal has a significant relationship with lecturers' job motivation and productivity. Dueto the findings of this study, it was recommended that human resource managers of public and private sector tertiary institutions should formulate and develop performance appraisal policies, that will motivate and reward meritorious performance among others.

Abstract School Children in over ten important States in Nigeria are continuously plagued with chronic flooding
disasters year in year out. This has posed a serious barrier in the Educational Attainment of children in
these states. In many cases, the school children struggle to attend classes with their instructors in
Flooded classrooms, conduct morning assemblies in Flooded school compounds, with no access ta
extra curricular activities. This barrier in leaming is far from the cry of formal education as the only
means to self actualization, growth and development of the nation. It has also made the indigenes of
these communities to be backward in social amenities, soctal integration and psycho-social behavior.
This paper therefore examined the academic achievement of the children in the flooded states
compared with school children in other states without flood, in other to proffer solutions. Population of
the study comprised ten thousand pupils, with a sample of one thousand pupils. An instrument for data
collection was based on their core subjects; Mathematics Achievement Test (MAT), English language

Abstract This paper examined the concept of women empowerment and why it is necessary
for women to be empowered. In the World over; there is a realisation that women
have been disadvantaged in several ways. These areas include economic and
educational opportunities, political representation and routine processes of
decision-making within the community. This realisation has led to the convening of
series of conferences leading to the formulation of platforms for the
implementation strategies for the betterment of women. Since 1995, when the
Beijing Conferencewas held so many other conferences have been held all geared
towards improving the lot of women. Three areas were specifically discussed in this
paper namely, econonic empowerment, educational empowerment and the right
to participate in society and other decision-making situations. In Nigeria, notmuch
progress has been achieved in the area of women empowerment in spite of the fact that Nigeria has been a participant in all the conferences. No enduring policies
have been put in place to ensure successfid implementation. Ad-hoe sirategies such
as the “First Lady" progranimes have hardly addressed the real issues concerning women, Besides, the temporary nature of such programmes has made it impossible
Jor follow-up actions to be taken. Also, the Federal character policies of
govermments have not been far-reaching enough to address issues of women
empowerment. Until Nigerian women are able to identify, articulate and create
awareness about the discrimination they suffer and take positive steps to demand
for correction us women in many other countries have done, they will continue to be
disadvantaged.

Abstract pecial education is a discipline in the field of education which caters for the training of students with
disabilities for them to benefit maximally from education. For learning to be effective for this group of
students there is need for proper school management. However, the field of special education is
increasingly encountering a multicultural landscape, with students from diverse backgrounds entering
special school programmes which can affect the management of special schools in Nigeria. This
necessitates a reevaluation of management practices in special schools to ensure they are culturally
responsive and effective. This research therefore, examines the extent cross-culture affect management of
special schools in Nigeria and explores the benefits of incorporating cross-cultural perspectives into the
management education of special schools. The mode of deriving information and arriving at meaningful
conclusion is through primary source (observed experience), secondary source (journals, and books) and
analysis of teachers’ response to administered questionnaire through simple percentage from teachers in
special schools in Delta State, Nigeria, selected through cluster sampling. The research found out amongst
others that multiculturalism in special education presents a complex challenge and traditional approaches to
special education may not translate well across cultures, as there can be significant variations in disability
perception, family involvement and communication styles in Nigeria; due to cultural and religious
differences in Nigeria it is difficult to control students’ participation in morning devotion and enforce
accepted mode of grooming in special schools in Nigeria; and differences in cultural beliefs and practices
have negative effect on the behaviour of students which affect effective school management of special
schools in Nigeria. Finally, the study amongst others recommended that special school administrators
should be equipped with cross-cultural management skills to overcome cross-cultural challenges in special
schools in Nigeria and enable students with disabilities learn under conducive environment and benefit

Abstract Abstract
The study investigated the administrators' perception on the use of social media in facilitating organizational team growth. The purpose of the study was to critically evaluate and analyze the perception of administrators, their computer literacy levels, whether they possess the technical skills required by them in using social media for organizational team growth. The researchers used in-depth analysis to collect both qualitative and quantitative data. Using a purposive sampling method two hundred (200) administrators were selected; one hundred and twenty (120) academic staff and eighty (80) non-academic staff out of the nine hundred and thirty (930) staff of defunct College of Education, Agbor. Frequency count, percentage, mean, and standard deviation were used to analyze the questionnaire data while document analysis was used to analyze the quantitative data. Findings revealed that 141 (70.5%) of the participants were computer literate. However more than 50% of the non-academic staff were not computer literate, the most popular social media among the participants was WhatsApp (61.5%). the mean perception of the academic staff for the eight listed roles of social media in facilitating team growth in an organization/department range from 2.97 to 3.34. While that of non-academic staff ranges from 2.64 to 3.21. All the means were above the cutoff mean point of 2.50. Hence, all the eight roles were accepted as the roles social media plays in facilitating team growth in an organization. However, the means perception of the academic staff was higher than that of the non- academic staff. This implies that the academic staff had a higher perception on the identified role that social media plays in facilitating team growth in an organization/department.

Abstract The study examined the effect of over- schooling on teachers' job motivation at the private primary schools in Delta North Senatorial District (DNSD). The study was guided by three research questions and three null hypotheses. The population for the study consisted of all the 4,824 teachers in the 402 registered private primary schools in Delta North Senatorial District. The stratified sampling technique was used to draw a sample of 600 teachers. The teachers were stratified according to the location of their schools; urban/rural. Data collection was carried out with a structured questionnaire titled "Over-schooling and Teachers job motivation" (OTJM). It was validated by measurement and evaluation experts. Using the Cronbach alpha reliability method, a reliability coefficient of 0.95 was obtained. Mean and standard deviation was used to answer the research questions, while the independent t-test was used to test the hypotheses. The study revealed that the job motivation level of teachers that are over-schooled and non- over-schooled in private primary schools in DNSD is below average. However, it showed that the level of job motivation of non-over-schooled teachers is still higher than that of the over-schooled teachers. It was recommended amongst others that over-schooled teachers in private primary schools should be properly placed with commensurate remuneration. To achieve this, the government should augment their salaries by giving grant-in-aid to these schools.

Abstract The paper focused on the perception of teachers and school administrators about school-based and cluster in-service teachers professional support programme because teachers are the best advocates for and constructive critics of any programme relating to their professional development. The paper reveals that the school-based and cluster in-service teachers support programme which is a major component of the UBE mandate as a strategy for National capacity building and enhancement for teachers to ensure quality of the teaching and learning, fell into coma immediately after the launch of the pilot research programme on school-based and cluster in-service in the studied area. The paper also presented a contextual insight as to why the initiative should not be allowed to die as researches on teacher education development show the growing consensus that professional development of the teacher yields the best results when it is long-term, school-based, collaborative, localized, actively involving all teachers and used as a matter of central importance teachers own knowledge of their practice and the realities of their classrooms and schools. Abstract The educational environment which is largely a product of leadership provided by the school head and staff, is crucial in fostering a positive and supportive climate and in the education of young children who are in their most formative and impressionable age. In this context, school administrators become important agents of change in fostering a supportive and upbeat atmosphere in educational establishments. This paper examines the various roles and tactics that school administrators play in creating a supportive school climate through visionary leadership, setting clear guidelines, modelling behavior, advocating for equity and inclusivity. By drawing on theoretical frameworks and actual data, the article provides examples and case studies of effective administrative initiatives that solve issues and foster constructive interactions and connections. The study also emphasizes how crucial it is to keep working to make school climate development a top priority as a fundamental component of educational leadership. It is recommended among others that administrators create environments where each student feels respected, encouraged, and empowered to succeed by promoting policies, encouraging teamwork, and setting an example of constructive behaviour. This paper is a clarion call for administrators to take responsibility of their roles as advocates for both student success and conducive school climates.

Abstract This paper examined the failure of the primary education system to lay a solid foundation for a great and dynamic economy in Nigeria. The failure resulted from underfunding, declining teacher quality, deficient structure, curriculum, organization and administration. Using the concept of re-engineering, which involved taking drastic measures to ensure a turn-around, not only to eliminate identified problems but actually ensure that there should be desirable educational outcomes. The re-engineering involved initiating measures to ensure that all government officials' children attend public schools. This will ensure the globalization of schools. Secondly, instead of primary education, it should now be National Basic Education and it should be 14 years of compulsory and continuous schooling. There should be a National Basic Education Board to certificate not only the products from the National Basic Education system but to also certificate those interested in teaching so that it was from this pool that teachers would be recruited. Faculties of Education of universities should be involved in the organization and administration of National Basic Education for at least 28 years.

Abstract Numerous researches have demonstrated that admission requirements into teacher training
institutions have influence on the quality of teachers produced and consequently on the
achievement of students. In addition, the diversities in the quality of entrants into teacher training
institutions provide reasonable divide between developed and developing nations of the world.
This study aims to assess the pre-service teachers’ competencies in literacy and numeracy skills
at the entry point and at the end of their second year in tertiary institutions in Delta State of
Nigeria. Two tests were used to assess the literacy and numeracy skills. The findings of this
study suggest that the competencies of the pre-service teachers in literacy and numeracy skills
were average and very low respectively both at the entry point and after the second year of their
training. However, there was significant growth in the competencies of the pre-service teachers
in both literacy and numeracy skills within the period. The results also suggest that secondary
school location of the pre-service teachers had an influence on their level of competence in
literacy unlike numeracy skills. These results indicate to a need to re-visit the quality of entrants
into the teacher training institutions in order to produce high quality teachers.
